News Summer 4
Hi Year 1 parents and children,
In maths this week, we have been recapping our place value, splitting numbers into tens and ones. Once we were more confident with this, we used this knowledge to help us add together two two-digit numbers. We have also started to take away larger numbers.
This week in English, we have been describing Shrek’s swamp using adjectives. Then we designed our own swamps with art materials and wrote a description for those. Some of them were just like Shrek’s and others were completely different!
We learnt the story of St George and his flag. We then used the St George flag for inspiration and designed our own to go on our shields. We have made castle pencil pots from cardboard and toilet roll tubes. We are also working on decorating our desks to make those look like castles too!
We have been on Purple Mash on the ipads and have really been enjoying customising the castles on there under the ‘Castles and Knights’ topic tab.
We hope you’re still having lots of fun and are enjoying your time at home.
We really look forward to seeing you when the time comes.
Stay safe,
Miss Andrews, Miss Dickinson and Miss Gardner
