Year 2 have a received a mysterious box - breaking news

We received a box yesterday which told us to look for some clues. An old letter was found inside the box that we received. The letter was ripped and had some holes, hiding some very important information. We went on a hunt around the school to piece together the letter that had been sent to us. We found some items on our way around the school such as burnt bread, burnt wood, a fire engine, an apron, an oven glove, a diary, a bottle of wine and some cheese.

After doing a little bit more research, we realised these were all connected to the Great Fire of London in 1666. We have decided that we are going to learn more about the Great Fire of London this half-term. This will help us to work out what was missing from the letter! There are many history lessons to follow…

Exciting day in Year 2

A mysterious person came into our school and said she heard Mr Long talking about how amazing Year 2 were. She told us that she needed our help. Her name was Annie Farriner (11 x times great grandfather to Thomas Farriner - the man who accidentally started the Great Fire of London). Annie showed us a box which had Thomas Farriner’s diary inside. We asked Professor Memo to help us send some messages back to 1666 and asked if we could use her time machine. We managed to send the messages back in time and when we read Thomas Farriner’s diary again, there were some extra pages. Thomas was happy again and said thank you to all the children at Northwick Park!
