Year 1 began their half term with Heroes day. The children dressed up as everyday heroes and during the day experienced what a Firefighter, Police officer and Doctor/Nurse do. They tended to bears who needed bandaging, rescuing a cat from a tall “building” and solving some clues to open the locked boxes.

Part of our Hero's topic we were very lucky to meet Florence Nightingale. She told us all about becoming a nurse and how she changed nursing and hospitals for the better. The children enjoyed meeting her and learning how to roll bandages and tend to the injured soldiers. They created their own Florence Nightingale portraits.
